The Classic of Music (traditional Chinese: 樂經; pinyin: yuè jīng; Wade-Giles: yueh ching) is sometimes referred to as the sixth "Chinese classic text", but was lost by the time of the Han Dynasty. A few traces remain and can be found in other ancient Chinese classics like Zuo Zhuan (左傳) and the Classic of Rites (禮記, or Liji). The Classic of Rites is one of the Five Classics (五經, or Wujing). A much dilapidated version of the Yuejing is preserved in the Classic of Rites (禮記), chapter 17. The Classic of Music was a Confucian text and is believed to be important to the interpretation of the Classic of Poetry (詩經, or Shijing ), another of the Five Classics texts. [edit] References
