Coptic Orthodox Church activities in South America started mainly in the 1990s, however the immigration of the Copts to South America likely started as early as the 1960s. On Sunday 12 February 2006 His Holiness Pope Shenouda III consecrated Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox church in São Paulo, Brazil. [1] On the following day Monday 13 February 2006 His Holiness the Pope consecrated Saint Mary and Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox church in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. [2]
