E or E Oborotnoye (Backwards E) (Э, э) is a letter found in several Cyrillic alphabets, typically representing the non-iotated vowel, IPA /e/. In Cyrillic Moldovan, which was used in Soviet[1] era Moldova and is still used in Transnistria, this letter represents the schwa: /ə/.[citation needed]
