Ernest Vincent Wright (1873?–1939) was an American author. His most famous work is Gadsby, "A Story of Over 50,000 Words", which, except for the introduction and a note at the end, did not use the letter e. Every word was properly spelled and all narration was grammatically correct. Wright's passing away at 66 was within days or months of publication of Gadsby. Wright previously authored three other books: The Wonderful Fairies of the Sun (1896), The Fairies That Run the World and How They Do It (1903), and Thoughts and Reveries of an American Bluejacket (1918). His (non-lipogram) humorous poem, "When Father Carves the Duck," can be found in some of the older anthologies, as well as online. [edit] See also Wikisource has original works written by or about:
