Ye (Є, є) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, used in Ukrainian and Rusyn languages to represent the iotated vowel sound /je/ and the patalized /e/ sound. In Old East Slavic it represents /e/ without patalization (a patalized /e/ in Old East Slavic is represented by Ѥ) and is interchangeable with Е as a typographic variant. It is rarely used before a consonant. The letter should not be confused with the symbol for the euro currency, €.
