Yi (Ї, ї) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, used in the Ukrainian and Rusyn languages. It represents the iotated vowel sound /ji/. In Rusyn, it can also represent a palatalized /i/ sound. The modern letter was introduced as part of the Zhelekhivka orthography, in Yevhen Zhelekhivsky's Ukrainian–German dictionary (2 volumes, 1885–6).
